Value Investing – Choose The Right Stocks To Buy
There is this particular saying "What goes down will always come up" that might not necessarily be true for certain stocks. Not all stocks will recover fully after a recession; in fact that will be some stocks that will fall and never recover. Worst of all, are you sick of constantly listening to wrong advice about the stock market and worried about making the wrong investment choice?

The Global Case for Gold
Gold—it is unlike all other elements on earth. Virtually indestructible, this precious metal has been the source of countless fables and has mobilized the growth of nations and financial infrastructures worldwide. Human beings have been utilizing gold as both a form of currency and an investment for thousands of years.

As an asset class, gold is unique. Gold is durable and has excellent liquidity as one of the world's deepest commodity markets, second only to oil. The economic forces that determine the price of gold are different from the economic forces that determine the price of many other asset classes such as equities, bonds or real estate. Gold offers investors an attractive opportunity to diversify their portfolios—potentially reducing overall portfolio risk.

Institutional Investment Tools Made Available For You - From iShares, the World's leader in ETFs
This session will take a detailed look at the investment strategies of some of Asia's biggest and most sophisticated investors. Globally, institutional investors such as pension funds and sovereign wealth funds have as much as 70% of their total portfolio invested in fixed income. Many Asian individual investors have a much smaller investment (sometimes nothing at all) in fixed income. What drives this mismatch?

We'll share some of the factors that drive institutional investors' fixed income allocations and look at the current global landscape for bonds. With the burgeoning Asian fixed income markets in mind, we'll also introduce you to the growing number of investment tools you can now also use for fixed income yourself.

Pre-plan To Protect Your Interests: The Lasting Power of Attorney
Being an informed and savvy investor is important as we plan for our financial needs and build our nest eggs for retirement. But have we ever considered how the wealth we have worked so hard to accumulate should be managed if we should lose mental capacity because of old age, the effects of a stroke or an accident? Have we considered who is the trusted person(s) we wish to appoint to manage our financial matters on our behalf in such an eventuality -our bank accounts, property and assets, transacting with third parties?

How about decisions relating to our daily needs and personal welfare matters?

These pre-planning can be made simply by making a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA). An LPA is a legal document which allows an individual to appoint person(s) he trusts to be his proxy decision maker in the areas of his personal welfare and property & affairs matters.

Learn how you can incorporate an LPA as a key component of holistic pre-planning. Not only will it give you and your loved ones certainty and peace of mind, it will ensure that your best interests will be safeguarded if you should become vulnerable.

Riding the Wave in Turbulent Markets through Asset Allocation
A well-known quote that many investors know of is "A rising tide lifts all boats but when the tide goes out, you will find out who is swimming exposed". Investors tend to fall into the trap of "buying high and selling low" and we have factual data on international fund flows that shows good evidence of this. But it is inevitable that one would tend to be overly aggressive when the market goes up and overly conservative during a down market – this happens when emotions take over logic. Nonetheless, there are ways to capture reasonable gains during good times and minimize losses (or even get some minimal gains during bad times) via asset allocation. In this presentation, we would share some of the more commonly used strategies that global asset allocation experts use to smooth-out the ride during volatile times.

Asian Local Currency Bonds: An Emergent Asset Class
Asian local currency bonds characterize an emergent asset class that provides opportunities to participate in the growth of rising Asian economies. Asian local currency bonds have almost tripled in size in the past five years to a market capitalization of over USD $5.0 trillion, which is approximately 8% of the world's bond market. The continued growth of this regional asset class is driven by positive qualitative and quantitative catalysts such as the sound macroeconomic policies, attractive fundamentals, growing currency reserves and improved creditworthiness of governmental debt in the region.

The ABF Pan Asia Bond Index Fund (PAIF), a fixed income exchange traded fund (ETF) provides exposure to this growing regional asset class with the opportunity for two sources of return – steady current income and the potential for currency appreciation. PAIF, launched in 2005 as the first bond ETF in Asia, accomplishes this through strategic investments in the sovereign bonds of eight rapidly developing Asian economies, which include China (access to China's interbank market by general investors had been unavailable until PAIF), Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
